Collection summaryLibrary of musicology rich in reproductions and microfilm of medieval manuscripts.DescriptionProf Gordon Athol Anderson, a world-renowned medieval musicologist held a Personal Chair in Music at UNE from 1977 until his death in 1981. Widely regarded at this time as the world's leading expert in the history of the 13th century motet, he wrote a number of scholarly works on medieval music.

Professor Anderson built up an extensive and important personal library of books, journals, editions of music, manuscripts and microfilm. The collection was especially rich in reproductions and microfilm of medieval manuscripts many of which were otherwise unavailable for study outside of Europe at this time.

The collection was donated to the University by his wife Mrs Laurel Anderson in 1981. There was a further donation to this collection in 1992 from Mr John and Mrs Jude Lubrano.
