Jack, Trevor

Trevor Jack's childhood in Inverell and Tingha was characterized by a rich blend of cultural traditions, and a strong family focus on music and rural life. In 1931 when his father, Fred, died heroically while attempting a rescue in the MacIntyre River, fourteen-year-old Trevor needed to leave school to work as an ironmonger at Hong Yuen’s, providing vital support for his family.

In 1939, Trevor transitioned into military service, eventually serving as a distinguished operative and officer-trainer in the elite ‘Z’ Special Unit during World War II.  In 1945 he married Mary Daneman and together they navigated several business ventures, including a chicken farm and retail work, before eventually settling in Coonabarabran. There, they successfully established "Jack’s Catering Service," a business born from a local milk bar acquisition.
