Moses, Ingrid Prof
Ingrid Moses AO is a distinguished academic and university administrator who served as the tenth Vice-Chancellor of the University of New England from 1997 to 2005. Born in Germany and migrating to Australia in 1966, she developed an extensive career in higher education research and governance, eventually earning her PhD from the University of Queensland. Her tenure at UNE was characterized by a strong commitment to regional education, a contribution recognized by the award of a Centenary Medal in 2003. Beyond her leadership at Armidale, Moses held significant global and national roles, including serving as the Chancellor of the University of Canberra (2006–2011), President of the International Association of University Presidents, and Chair of the Council of the United Nations University. Now an Emeritus Professor at the University of Canberra, her career is marked by numerous honorary degrees and fellowships reflecting her influence on the quality and internationalisation of tertiary education.
In 2001 Moses was awarded a Centenary Medal for service to rural education, and in 2018 Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), "for distinguished service to higher education through senior academic management positions in Australian universities, and to a range of community and church organisations".
