Pettigrew, Alan Prof
Professor Alan Pettigrew served as the eleventh Vice-Chancellor of the University of New England (2006 - 2010). A distinguished academic in the field of physiology, he arrived at UNE with significant experience in research governance, having previously served as the inaugural CEO of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and in senior executive roles at the University of Queensland and UNSW. His tenure at UNE was defined by his focus on institutional leadership and academic planning during a period of transition for the university. Following his time in Armidale, Pettigrew continued to influence the Australian higher education sector as an advisor to the Chief Scientist of Australia and through high-level committee roles in medical research and governance.
