Professor James Barber served as the 12th Vice-Chancellor and CEO of the University of New England (2010 - 2014). A distinguished academic with a PhD in experimental psychology, Barber’s research focused on drug addiction and child welfare. Prior to his appointment at UNE, he held significant leadership roles including Deputy Vice-Chancellor at RMIT University and Dean at the University of Toronto. During his tenure in Armidale, Barber was a vocal advocate for the role of regional universities in fostering economic prosperity and enhancing regional identity.
