Evans, Simon Prof

Professor Simon Evans is the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of New England, having joined the institution in January 2022. He played a critical leadership role as Interim Vice-Chancellor (2022 to 2023) following the departure of Professor Brigid Heywood.

Professor Evans is a constitutional lawyer, and was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law in 2018.

Prior to his arrival at UNE, Prof Evans served as Provost of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce at La Trobe (2018–2022) and prior to that was Pro Vice Chancellor (International) at the University of Melbourne (2010 - 2018).
