Moran, Chris Prof

Professor Chris Moran commenced his term as the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of the University of New England in July 2023.

Professor Moran moved to Armidale from Curtin University, where he served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Vice President Research from 2016 to 2023. His academic career includes significant leadership roles at the University of Queensland (2007–2016), where he was a Professor and Director specializing in sustainability research for the mining and minerals industry, specifically through his leadership of the Centre for Water in the Minerals Industry.

Before his roles in the university sector, Professor Moran spent fifteen years at CSIRO (1989–2004) as a scientist working on natural resources and soil science. His tenure there culminated in leading the commencement of the "Water for a Healthy Country" National Research Flagship.
