A.A. Co. & Windy, Quirindi: records, 1872 - 1959
The A.A. Company "Warrah" (Windy) Station Records document the pastoral operations and administration of the Australian Agricultural Company's Warrah Station near Quirindi, New South Wales, across nearly ninety years. The series provides detailed evidence of wool production, livestock management, labour practices, and station economics during a significant period of Australian pastoral history. Core operational records include two wool books (1905, 1906), a letter book containing press copies of shearing reports (1901-1906), sheep returns for West Warrah (1928-1930) and Warrah Station/Windy (1938-1942), and a scalp book (1915-1923) documenting vermin control activities. Station provisioning and financial systems are documented through stores and ration accounts (1902-1904), day books showing rations issued, a ration issue book (1906-1909, missing back cover), a ledger (1872-1889), and two rough day books (undated). These records illuminate labour relations, station employment practices, and daily operational expenses. The series includes an annual rainfall chart for "Windy" spanning 1879-1959, offering valuable climatic data across eighty years and demonstrating the station's attention to weather patterns critical for pastoral decision-making.
