Booth, Edgar Harold (1893-1963)
Edgar Booth was the first Warden of the New England University College (1938-1945).
Educated at the University of Sydney he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1916, and a Doctorate of Science in 1937.
In his early years, he was a Captain of 5th Australian Field Artillery AIF, from 1916 - 1919. He began his academic career as lecturer and physics demonstrator at the University of Sydney in 1919, and remained as a Senior Lecturer in Physics until 1937.
He was a consultant physicist, Imperial Geophysical Experimental Survey from 1928 - 1932, and President, Science Teachers' Association of New South Wales (1931). He was President of the Royal Society of New South Wales from 1937 - 1945. He also served as President, Northern New South Wales Committee of Services Education Advisory Council and spent some time as the London representative of the Australian Wool Board (1955).
