Algernon Henry Belfield was a pastoralist with a keen interest in astronomy and weather. Belfield kept daily records of weather observed at Eversleigh Station, located 20 kilometres northwest of Armidale, between1877 and 1922.
Born in London, Belfield arrived in Australia in 1857. He was the overseer and then manager of Saumarez Station from 1859-1864, before he took over ownership of Everleigh Station in 1864. There he remained here until his passing in 1922.
Belfield was a Member of the Royal Society of New South Wales, the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science and the British Astronomical Society.
