Immigrants in the Bush
This material was collected as part of the Immigrants in the Bush project which was based at the Armidale College of Advanced Education between 1983 and 1987 and funded by the Multicultural Education Coordinating Committee of the NSW Department of Education. The project resulted in a series of resource materials distributed to NSW schools, a number of articles and other products.
The project focused on recording oral history interviews with immigrants from non-English-speaking backgrounds who had settled in New England or whose parents or grandparents had settled in New England.
Most interviews were recording between 12 June 1983 - 18 April 1984. Material includes: audio tapes of original oral history interviews with copies made onto CD, transcripts of recordings, copies of family photographs. Sundry documentation including diaries, handwritten research notes, interviewee profile forms, project records.
Photo Album 1 also has two series of photographs of Grey St, Glen Innes. The first taken by S.H. Porter (1925), the second by David Rose (1986), were shot to show a similar combination.
