Immigrants in the Bush
This material was collected as part of the Immigrants in the Bush project which was based at the Armidale College of Advanced Education between 1983 and 1987 and funded by the Multicultural Education Coordinating Committee of the NSW Department of Education. The project resulted in a series of resource materials distributed to NSW schools, a number of articles and other products.
The project focused on recording oral history interviews with immigrants from non-English-speaking backgrounds who had settled in New England or whose parents or grandparents had settled in New England.
Most interviews were recording between 12 June 1983 - 18 April 1984. Interviewees: Willem Brantsma, Annefie Brantsma, Angelo Cavallaro, Gerard (Gerry) Chan and Judy Chan, Stan Charnas, Peder Christensen, Theodore Comino, Dorothy Correy, Norina de Stefani, Tony de Stefani, Eleni Dedes, Domenico (Mick) Dileo, Giovanna Dileo, John Dunst, Gilbert Dunst, Amleto, Antonietta Gianoli, Enzo Gianoli, Spiro Giovas, Frank Grima, Joseph (Joe) Hanna, William (Bill) Herle, Mr Jekel, Willy Nillesen, Peter Nillesen, Ida Joseph, Fred Kokaev, Oreste Marcuzzi, Nick Mentis, Joe Micallef and Mary Micallef, Yvonne O'Sullivan, Michael Pavlou and Diana Pavlou, Theocharis (Harris) Pavlou and Maroula Pavlou, Clare Pieper and Karl Pieper, Mrs Raadgever, Charlie Refalo, Caterina Russo and Francesco Russo, Dino Saccon and Valeria Saccon, Roger South and Bobby South, Ian Steep, Chris Stephen, Morrie Stephen, Jan Stojan, Marianne Stojan, Assunta Tolone, Agostino Tolone, Theo Verbeek, Liz Wong.
Material includes: audio tapes of original oral history interviews with copies made onto CD, transcripts of recordings, copies of family photographs. Sundry documentation including diaries, handwritten research notes, interviewee profile forms, project records.
Photo Album 1 also has two series of photographs of Grey St, Glen Innes. The first taken by S.H. Porter (1925), the second by David Rose (1986), were shot to show a similar combination.
