Voisey, Alan Heywood
Alan Voisey was Foundation Professor of Geology at the University of New England from 1954-1965, after being Lecturer-in-charge from 1939 - 1952 at the New England University College. He spent a year in between as Visiting Professor of Geology at Antioch College in Ohio, USA and in 1954 was awarded Doctor of Science (DSc), University of Sydney.
Voisey's research centred on understanding New England geology, most papers containing fundamental original results based on careful field mapping. His work contributed significantly to studies of tectonic development of New England. He is commemorated by the A.H. Voisey Club, a graduate club of the University of New England's Geology Department, and by the A.H. Voisey Medal of the New South Wales division of the Geological Society of Australia.
