Plumthorpe Station
The Plumthorpe Station Collection documents the pastoral operations and family history of Plumthorpe Station near Barraba, NSW, spanning from the 1860s to 1972. The collection is particularly rich in operational records including station diaries (1916-1958), wool books (1892-1893), shearing tally books (1916-1949), and woolclassers' records (1948-1957). Business correspondence and wool sales documentation provide insight into the commercial aspects of pastoral management during the early to mid-twentieth century.
Family papers include legal documents relating to the estates of Thomas Burdekin (1860) and Bossley Burdekin (1883), as well as personal diaries and correspondence. The collection contains photographs of Plumthorpe (1890s-1940s), a framed photograph of fine wool (1933), wool samples in notebook form (1929), and a panoramic photograph of Rosedale homestead at Murrurundi.
The collection holds records relating to the Burdekin and Wilson families, with particular reference to Norman Weekes Burdekin and his connections to both Plumthorpe and Rosedale properties.
