Cameron Family
The Cameron family were pastoralists in northern New South Wales and Queensland during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The family's association with the New England region centered on Kalanga Station near Glen Innes and Welttown Station (Goondiwindi).
Reverend Archibald Cameron – Minister and pastoralist who established the family at Kalanga Station (formerly "Bellevue"). His wife Christina Cameron maintained detailed records of family life and station activities.
Christina Cameron (née unknown) – Wife of Rev. Archibald Cameron. She documented her experiences through diaries and reminiscences spanning 1861–1913, including accounts of personal tragedies such as the death of her nine-year-old daughter Margaret in 1868 and her own near-death illness in 1906. Christina was 71 years old in 1902 when she recorded her reminiscences at "Bellevue."
Donald McLeod Cameron – Son of Rev. Archibald and Christina Cameron. Donald worked as overseer, manager, and studmaster at Welltown Station, Goondiwindi, Queensland, from at least 1890 to the early 1920s.
