Political Memoirs of Frank Anstey

Political memoirs (typescript copy) of Frank Anstey, a leading left-wing politician in the federal and state (Vic.) spheres in the early part of this century. The memoirs relate to internal political manoeuvering within the federal Labor government in the 1930's. They are in the form of essays and were intended for incorporation in an autobiography. They represent all the extant papers of Frank Anstey, except for material published in the journal "Overland". (Originals in the A.N.U. Archives.) Also related correspondence between the editor of "Overland" and others concerning the copying and interchange of these records. Anstey was elected federal member for Bourke in 1910 and became Deputy Leader of the A.L.P. in the 1920's and Minister for Health in Scullin's government.
