Cabinet of Curiosities

The 16^th Century phenomenon of the Cabinet of Curiosities brought together art and wonders. These precursors of the modern museum contained items of diverse origins and materials and frequently mixed the unusual with the mundane.  UNEMA’s Cabinet of Curiosities consists of those collections that do not neatly fit within the Museum’s Classical Antiquities and Cultural Collections, or which traverse both.
